Reserve Police Officers Association agrees to stop soliciting donations in Washington

New York-based charity to reimburse Attorney General for legal costs

SEATTLE – A New York-based charity named the Reserve Police Officers Association agreed to stop soliciting donations in Washington under an agreement with the Attorney General’s Office.

Brooke Webster, president of Reserve Police Officers Association in Yonkers, NY, signed the agreement approved Jan. 22 by a Thurston County Superior Court judge. The document does not contain an admission or finding of wrongdoing, but accuses the organization of failing to register with the Secretary of State’s Office.

The association will pay $1,000 to reimburse the state Attorney General’s Office for investigative and legal expenses.

The Attorney General’s Office initiated the investigation after receiving a referral from the Secretary of State’s Office, which had received a complaint from a Washington resident who said he received repeated phone calls from solicitors seeking money for the association.

Several Members of CRPOA have been contacted by an organization known as “Reserve Police Officers Association” (RPOA) through the U.S. Mail. “RPOA” is asking for a donation of $25. The donation supposedly “…enables the RPOA to help provide the support our volunteer reserve police officers and deputies deserve.”
RPOA is not a California organization. They are not in any way affiliated with CRPOA.
