The O.J. “Bud” Hawkins Exceptional Service Award

Excellence in service and standards is the foundation upon which the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) stands. Attaining excellence on a continuous basis is the result of many dedicated staff, volunteer subject matter resources, and POST Advisory Committee and POST Commission members.

The nomination period for the 2009 POST Excellence in Training Award is open. The award (previously known as the Governor's Award for Excellence in Peace Officer Training) has been given by the Commission since 1994. The criteria for the award have remained the same since its inception.

POST Excellence in Training Awards

The POST Excellence in Training Award annually recognizes truly outstanding law enforcement trainers. Previously known as the Governors Award for Excellence in Peace Officer Training, the awards for training excellence began in 1994.

New Peace Officer & Public Safety Dispatcher Selection Requirements Now in Effect

Effective July 1, 2009, the revised peace officer and public safety dispatcher selection standards (New PAM Chapter 5: Selection Requirements) has replaced Regulation 1002, 1018(c), and Commission Procedures C-1 and C-2.
